Start Summit: Decarbonizing the Built Environment

  • Friday, January 26, 2024
  • 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, January 27, 2024
  • 7:30 PM
  • Portland Museum of Art and Bowdoin College

We are pleased to partner with The Roux Institute at Northeastern University for their Start Summit on Decarbonizing the Built Environment. Our Executive Director, Eric Howard, will be a panelists in the opening information session from 5:00 - 7:30 PM at the Portland Museum of Art on Friday January 26th.

The Friday evening program in Portland is $10, the two-day program is $25, and the Saturday evening reception at Bowdoin is free.

The Challenge for this Summit is: "How might we develop innovative products and services that will significantly lower carbon emissions and/or capture carbon to reduce the environmental impact of our built environment. The construction industry is responsible for producing 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, so tackling climate change requires changes to how we design, build and maintain structures. With Maine's history as pioneers of high-performance buildings, we have an opportunity to lead this charge for retrofitting existing structures and new construction standards."
