Elisabeth Bialosky

The Governor’s Energy Office has launched the Maine Clean Energy Jobs Network to boost employment in the cleantech sector. Check out their website featuring over 140 jobs, 150 training programs, and 34 employers.

The University of Maine is seeking a Director for the Maine Research and Development Solutions Program located in Orono. Apply by July 31st to be considered for the position.

Our sister organization, the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center, received an award of $485k for a workforce development project to catalyze aquaculture sector development in Washington County, an area of Maine with distinct and disproportionate risks to communities related to climate change. Another recipient in the same round of funding from the Northern Border Regional Commission's Catalyst Program was the Maine Audubon Society: $750K for renovations and additions at the Fields Pond Audubon Center in Penobscot County.

E2Tech has shifted to a quarterly system for member renewals. The spring is a fairly quiet season for institutions: below are the sixteen companies and organizations who joined or renewed their affiliation in April, May & June: APEX Engineering, Biodiversity Research Institute, BlueWave, Brunswick Sewer District, Eaton Peabody, Haley Ward, HDR, Marine Solar Technologies, ReVision Energy, Salt Institute, Sanborn Head & Associates, Search Inc, Sheridan Brick & Stone Work, T&D Wood Energy, Tanbark Molded Fiber Products, and Thornton Tomasetti. The five in bold are Sustaining Partners

Some E2Tech members care deeply about workforce development. The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance, an Augusta-based nonprofit with about 30 staff, received a $1.3M National Science Foundation grant to launch the Rural Energy Futures Project, to help 700+ students at 12 rural middle schools learn math while exploring local energy issues.

Some E2Tech members are knowledgeable of historic building restoration and preservation. Interested in a high-visibility project? On July 10, the state issued an RFP for Painting Blaine House -- the Governor's Mansion, which is next to the State House. "The work site must always have a neat appearance and be in a safe condition for the public who may be visiting the House."

Help the Maine Climate Council develop their Maine Won’t Wait plan by completing this 15-minute survey.

Join Maine Conservation Voters at their free webinar on 7/26 at noon focused on EPR for Packaging. E2Tech’s board member, Vanessa Berry, will detail the one-of-a-kind law focused on shifting waste responsibility from taxpayers to producers.

MEREDA - Maine Real Estate Developer's Assn - has named Shannon Richards as president of the statewide organization for a two-year term. Shannon is the founder of Hay Runner, "an eclectic group of makers, innovators, architects, parents, horticulturalists, problem solvers, jokers, entrepreneurs, designers, carpenters, uncles and aunts." The firm was one of the exhibitors at last month's well-attended Build Maine event in Skowhegan; they had good swag, and because it was a warm day, E2Tech's Exec Director now has a light purple baseball cap.

Gorham Saving Bank’s annual LaunchPad Competition is back, applications are open and accepted until August 15th at 5 pm. They are seeking up-and-coming small businesses to award $50K and $20K grants to accelerate their growth.

Important update from Preti Flaherty, a Sustaining Member, David Van Slyke will resume his role as chair of Preti’s environmental practice group. David has been involved in E2Tech for years. He became chair of the firm's Environmental Practice Group in 1995 and has been serving as Managing Partner of the firm since 2020.
