The Maine Climate Council is charged with developing a plan to meet state greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets that are now in law, including a gross 45% greenhouse gas emissions reduction below 1990 levels by 2030 and at least 80% by 2050.
Starting with an introduction & overview of energy use by sector, our panel of experts will explore challenges for meeting these targets. What combination of strategies could work, and what business opportunities should emerge? How have other states proceeded? What is the baseline and how will progress be tracked? As the Maine Climate Council begins work on a blueprint for action, this panel will look at the scope of their undertaking, focusing in this initial forum on the transportation & heating sectors. It is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day - join us!
