    Efficiency Maine is increasing the mail-in rebate on qualifying heat pump water heaters from $100 to $300.  This means that, after rebates, a $1,000 heat pump water heater costs only $300 more than a traditional electric water heater. With average savings of $250/yr, a heat pump water heater will pay for itself in 1.2 years - an 83% return on investment after taxes.

Through the Governor's Awards for Environmental Excellence program, we will celebrate and spotlight those who serve as a model by developing innovative ways to shift a culture toward sustainability while investing in infrastructure and creating good jobs.

    We are looking to recognize applicants with projects and programs born from innovation andcollaboration resulting in measurable environmental and economic benefits. Successfulcandidates will be those who solve environmental challenges through constructive and creativesolutions that go beyond standard techniques or regulatory compliance requirements.
