The Environmental and Energy Technology Council of Maine (E2Tech), in collaboration with and support from Maine Technology Institute, Maine Composites Alliance, The Maine Wind Industry Initiative, Maine Port Authority, and Maine International Trade Center (MITC), has just published the Maine Wind & Ocean Energy Resource Guide.
This publication outlines the unique opportunity that exists in Maine for on-and-offshore wind and ocean energy development, while also listing the significant existing resources within the state that makes Maine ripe for continued expansion of these resources for the benefit of citizens of the state and the region.
In addition to listing the qualifications of fifty entities actively engaged in this growing sector, this guide stresses Maine’s proud history of working with the natural resources of the state and the Gulf of Maine while also preserving and protecting its environment. It also emphasizes Maine’s strong marine history, the ambitious support of the State of Maine and its congressional delegation, its outstanding ports and world class industrial and commercial base, and the state’s ideal location in the US and Canadian northeast corridor.
This Resource Guide lists precision manufacturing, engineering, construction, and environmental companies; scientific and R&D facilities; state organizations; education and training institutions; transport and logistic companies, wind and tidal developers, and a wide range of professional service companies, all engaged in some aspect of this growing and important sector. This publication makes it clear that Maine possesses the natural resources, citizen interest, private and public sector ingenuity and the political will to swiftly move ocean-based wind energy strategies forward.
